The third made-for-TV movie in the Bonanza next generation series concerns a vengeful Pinkerton detective (Dennis Farina) who won't rest until he hangs outlaw, Frank James. James is wounded on the Ponderosa by the renegade Pinkertons and the Cartwrights rally around him.

Don has a quick appearance as a U.S. Marshal. Also appearing in this film is Don's cast-mate from The High Chaparral, Ted Markland.
