Outlaws
from Western Television and Film Annual, 1964

Bruce
Yarnell was the popular hero of the TV series "Outlaws," which was set in the
days of 1889, when Indian lands were opened to homesteaders. He played the role
of Chalk Breeson, who assisted Marshal Will Foreman. Their teaming was full of
conflict because Foreman was a law officer who was ruled by the book. Breeson,
however, too quite a different attitude towards those who broke the law. An
easy-going individual himself, he took the attitude of "live and let live." He
believed that law should be operated according to circumstance.
More recently Bruce was seen in the
full-length feature film Irma La Douce, the most important role of his
career outside his successful "Outlaws" series.
"I want to develop my acting
abilities to be able to play all sorts of parts," he said. "After all, I don't
want to play cowboy parts all the time."
He is now hoping to do a big
musical. He has a fine singing voice and has appeared in many operatic
production. He's quite unusual for a western hero.
