In the old Oklahoma Territory, there were many ways a man could get started on the outlaw trail.  Sometimes, a simple argument over a waterhole blossomed into a full-size range war with the men on the losing side being branded outlaws by the winners.   Then, it became a job for the U.S. Marshal to get the whole thing straightened out.

starfall7.jpg (9598 bytes)Four men became thrown together in just such a range war.  Led by Wayne Gorham, these men fought against the powerful Clay Fisher, becoming welded into a unit of inseparable friendship.  Hounded and driven out of their homes by Fisher and falsely branded outlaws by Fisher's corrupt sheriff, the men rode the outlaw trails together for two year.  Fighting together and laughing together, they finally agreed to return to Jackson City, drawn back by an amnesty, an offer of forgiveness and a new way of life. It was up to Will Foreman to find them jobs, help them fit in, but fisher's hatred still burned hot.  A promise of death was in the air.

starfall3.jpg (8994 bytes)From the minute the four friends ride back into town, Fisher tries to have them destroyed.  When he cannot do it legally, he goes after them on trumped up charges, finally goading Ollie and Burt into a reckless act which costs them their lives.  When Pepe then heads for the hills after suffering the indignities of Fisher's racial prejudice, Gorham can stand it no longer.   As the Sunday amnesty expires and Fisher wants to go after Pepe, Wayne asks Will Foreman for the time needed to bring his friend down from the mountains without bloodshed.   Although Will agrees, Fisher shows his contempt for the law by shooting Pepe from ambush.  Will reaches Gorham in time to kill Fisher before Fisher can also shoot Gorham.  Upon the death of his friend, Wayne quotes Pepe's last words:   "What am I?  A dog that I die when I am dead?  No!  I am a man with a god, and when I die, I live."
